Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 19 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with Union Minister of Agriculture, Farmers Welfare, and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chauhan, participated in the ‘Indian Natural Farming System’ programme to promote natural farming in Lucknow on Friday.
At the regional consultation programme on the science of natural farming, UP CM Yogi Adityanath said they have been spreading the word through agricultural institutions as well as Mandis about the certification process for the products of natural farming. He further stated that directions had been given to all six agricultural universities to improve certification labs.
“We have six agriculture universities, 89 agriculture science centres, and two central agriculture universities that have been set up in Uttar Pradesh. Through all these institutes and also Mandis, we have to spread the word about the certification process for the products of natural farming. Steps are being taken to promote the products of natural farming. Directions have been given to all six agriculture universities to improve certification labs,” he said.
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan also addressed the programme, saying that natural farming is a resolve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He further stated that an awareness campaign would be launched among the farmers to promote natural farming.
“PM Modi has resolved to save the earth and the environment. Production can be increased without the use of chemical fertilisers. Natural farming is a resolve of PM Modi. We will do everything to fulfil the resolve of natural farming. An awareness campaign will be launched among the farmers to promote natural farming,” he said.
To further the cause of natural farming, UP Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi announced on Tuesday, July 9, that a state-level natural farming workshop will be held on July 20 at Acharya Narendra Dev Kumarganj University in Ayodhya.
The workshop will feature scientists from 25 Krishi Vigyan Kendras in eastern Uttar Pradesh, nodal officers of natural farming, vice-chancellors of agricultural universities, deans, and approximately 250 farmers. (ANI)
