“Irresponsible, deliberately dangerous”: BJP spokesperson Rachna Reddy on Salman Khurshid’s reported statement – World News Network

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], August 7 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Rachna Reddy termed the reported statement of senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid as “irresponsible”, “immature” and “deliberately dangerous”.
The senior Congress leader is reported to have said that “violent protests like Bangladesh are possible in India.”
“Salman Khurshid today has made an absolutely irresponsible, immature and deliberately dangerous statement. Other than being a Congress leader, Mr Khurshid should also remember that he is a person of the law. He is a designated senior counsel,” Reddy told ANI.
“…He actually had the audacity to state that what is happening in Bangladesh can happen here as well as in India. And that too in Kashmir. He says that everything in Kashmir may appear to be normal but in fact, it is actually not and that the 2024 win and the fact that democratic processes in Kashmir are going to be initiated very soon is in fact just a superficial aspect of Kashmir,” she added.
Rachna Reddy added, “What are you trying to say to the nation? What are you trying to preach to the nation? Are you saying that Kashmir is going the Bangladesh way? You are obviously saying it”.
Meanwhile, Congress senior leader Salman Khurshid on Wednesday refused to be drawn further into controversy after it was reported that he had said that violent protests like Bangladesh are possible in India. When questioned by reporters over the statement the senior Congress leader said, “I say whatever I say in public, never in private.”
The reported comments by the senior Congress leader have evoked a sharp reaction from the BJP leaders.
BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla said, “Congress party says that it stands with the government of India as far as the issue of Bangladesh is concerned because this is not a political issue and no politics should be done but their leader Salman Khurshid tried to provoke and incite the people of India.”
BJP MP Sambit Patra said, “He said it during a book release. From Congress’ side, he warned that protests and arson could break out in India; what happened in Bangladesh could happen in India. So many other leaders, including Shashi Tharoor, were present there and they in a way supported that statement. Rahul Gandhi, whenever he went abroad, used to meet many people secretly and speak against India; now we are getting to know what his intention was.”
Earlier, reacting to the statement of Salman Khurshid, Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi said, “I want the Ministry of External Affairs to remain in constant touch with the leaders of the opposition parties. Keep providing us the information about the steps the Centre is taking. We are also getting information from various sources. If there is a dialogue between the government and the opposition parties, then we will also be able to convey our information to them.” (ANI)
